Do you recall what you wanted to be when you grew up when you were younger? Perhaps a police officer? A chef? A ballerina, maybe? Whether or whether you still have those youthful ambitions, you almost certainly have some sense of what you want to do with your life. It is never too late to make your dreams come true. It is critical that you do not give up on your dreams, regardless of your age.
Pursuing your dreams comes along with many benefits! Whether you lack the motivation or think your time has run out, we’ve come up with a few reasons why it’s not too late to start.
#1. Learn from Failure

This word seems counter-intuitive in reasons not to give up your dreams. But, failure can be more beneficial to you than you may realize. In fact, your approach to failure can be everything – learn from it, and you’re far more likely to succeed in the future. When do you learn to appreciate something the most? The moment when you lost it. The same goes for success. You will appreciate it the most if you have gone through failures and setbacks.
It is said that failure is the mother of all successes. If you have never tasted defeat, you have never truly won. Most people don’t pursue their dreams for fear of failure. Little do they know, this is one of the biggest ways we learn and grow!
Some famous entrepreneurs they’ve all had to deal with failure at some point. Bill Gates once said that success is a lousy teacher because it seduces people to think that they can’t fail, the world-famous Microsoft founder, probably felt like a failure when he dropped out of college – but look at him now!
There will be no success without failure. You will definitely experience setbacks and failures, but if you endure them and if you embrace them, once they are over, success and good times will come.
In The Positive Shift: Mastering Mindset to Improve Happiness, Health, and Longevity, Dr. Catherine Sanderson breaks down the science of thought and shows how our mindset—or thought pattern—exerts a substantial influence on our psychological and physical health. Most important, this book demonstrates how, no matter what our natural tendency, with practice we can make minor tweaks in our mindset that will improve the quality—and longevity—of our life.

Understand this: Failure is NOT the opposite of success. Failure is the factor of your success.
When you fail, you learn. And when you learn, you become better, and the more successful you will be.
#2. Successes along the way.
Big dreams don’t come true overnight – you will have stepping stones of success along the way. It may take you some time, effort, and lots of determination to reach goals, but small achievements that can be celebrated and reviled in – can help push you through to the next goal, and soon enough, your dreams will be realized.
#3. Motivate Others.
Never giving up on your dreams – you can also help to motivate those around you.
Finally, if you have children, or plan to start a family one day, you will be setting a good example. Your determination to get to where you want to be in life can be extremely motivating for them, and they’ll follow your example. U.S. President Donald Trump has inspired his children to start their own businesses and pursue professional careers. Hopefully, we can show future generations what it means to chase after our dreams.
Most importantly, in the words of Winston Churchill,
“Never Never Never give up.”
#4. Enjoy the journey.
Chasing your dreams isn’t just about the end goal. Remember that in the end, it’s your life, so make the best one for yourself.
